My girls love smoothies and I love giving them different names based on the colors and ingredients. Smoothies are a great way to get a lot of nutrients packed into one little mini-meal, if you will. One late summer afternoon, I asked my youngest what kind of smoothie she wanted that day- and she told me "a Mermaid smoothie!" As I went fourth to create the mermaid smoothie, I decided to make a little extra for me too. I began infusing it with as many nutrients as I could, including some detox ingredients I wouldn't normally include in a kids' smoothie- but alas, it worked and was delicious!

The Mermaid Smoothie
Serves 3-4
Ingredients:
1/3 cup freeze dried or frozen Dragonfruit (Pitaya)
1/3 cup frozen Strawberries
1/3 cup frozen Mango
1 fresh Banana
1/2 cup coconut milk
2 scoops Blue Spirulina *(serving size based on specific brand)
2 Tablespoons Beetroot powder
*Optional: 1 scoop ginseng powder (serving scoop size of specific product)

Directions:
First add the coconut milk into the blender, followed by the banana and frozen mango. Blend well until smooth. Pour about 1/4 cup servings, each into 3 or 4 clear cups. We're going to create a two-toned smoothie! Next, add the remaining ingredients into the remaining mango- banana mixture in the blender. Blend until totally smooth. Pour the fuchsia colored mixture on top of the orange one and gently whirl with a spoon or straw! Enjoy this beautiful, detoxifying mermaid smoothie!
